100% HRDF | HRD Corp Claimable Team Building
Will Team Building Be Allowed to Reclaim the Fund by HRD Corp?
Yes, and but under few conditions
For HRDF/HRD Corp Claimable Team Building Training, the following conditions apply:
Participant Numbers: Each training session must have a minimum of 5 participants and can accommodate up to 35 participants per trainer. Should the number of participants exceed 35, an additional trainer or facilitator will be necessary. This will result in additional charges from the training provider to cover the cost of the extra personnel.
Training Location: The training venue must be located at least 100KM away from your premises, as registered in the HRD Corp’s eTris system. This distance requirement is crucial because it allows you to claim up to RM400 per employee per day. This claim amount covers expenses such as accommodation, meals, and event room rental. If the training location is less than 100KM from your premises, the claimable amount is reduced to RM150 per employee per day.
Program Structure: The team-building program must be designed to include a balanced mix of activities, with at least 50% of the training conducted indoors and 50% conducted outdoors. This is a mandatory requirement set by HRDF/HRD Corp to ensure a comprehensive and engaging training experience. Adhering to this structure is essential for the training to qualify for the HRDF/HRD Corp claim.
How HRDF / HRD Corp payment condition for Your Team Building expenses?
Pay & Claim:
Transportation: Transportation expenses incurred during the training program can be paid by the participant or company upfront and then claimed back from HRDF/HRD Corp. To process this claim, it is essential to provide valid invoices or receipts as supporting documentation. These expenses typically cover travel to and from the training location, whether by public transportation, private vehicle, or company-arranged transport.
Meals and Accommodation: For meals and accommodation, you can also follow the pay-and-claim process. However, unlike transportation, you do not need to provide receipts or invoices when claiming these expenses. When applying for the HRDF/HRD Corp grant, you simply need to declare the amount spent on meals and accommodation for each participant. This streamlined process ensures that you can claim these necessary expenses without the burden of keeping and submitting detailed receipts.
No Payment Required:
- Trainer Fees: There is no need for any upfront payment or deposit for the trainer’s fees associated with the team-building program. After the training session is completed, the training provider will directly claim the trainer’s fees from your Levy Fund with HRDF/HRD Corp. This means the payment process is entirely managed post-training, alleviating the need for you to handle any immediate financial transactions related to the trainer’s compensation. This system ensures a hassle-free experience, allowing you to focus on the effectiveness of the training without worrying about the payment logistics.
Who going to arrange all your team building itinerary? You or the HRDF / HRD Corp Training Provider? You Decided!
By Youself / Employer
The employer will be responsible for arranging the entire team-building itinerary. Here’s what this entails:
Venue Selection and Coordination: You will choose a venue located at least 100KM from your registered premises, which qualifies for the maximum claimable amount. This involves researching and booking a location that provides appropriate spaces for both indoor and outdoor activities, as well as facilities for meals and accommodation if necessary.
Logistics and Transportation: Arranging transportation to and from the venue will be your responsibility. Whether it involves organizing group travel or individual arrangements, you’ll manage these logistics and ensure that all necessary invoices and receipts are collected for claim purposes.
Accommodation and Meals: If the team-building event extends over multiple days, you’ll need to arrange suitable accommodation and meal plans for your team. This includes ensuring that the selected options are convenient and comfortable, and that any dietary needs are catered to. While you won’t need to keep receipts for meals and accommodation claims, proper declaration during the HRDF/HRD Corp grant application will be necessary.
Scheduling and Time Management: As the employer, you will be responsible for creating a detailed itinerary that includes the timing for each activity, meal breaks, and any other sessions. This schedule will ensure that the program runs smoothly and that all activities are completed within the planned time frame.
By Training Provider
The training provider will be responsible for managing every aspect of your team-building itinerary, ensuring a seamless and well-organized experience. Here’s a detailed overview of what they will handle:
Activity Planning and Design: The provider will craft a tailored program that aligns with your team’s specific goals and objectives. This includes selecting a variety of engaging activities that promote teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. The activities will be balanced to meet the HRDF/HRD Corp requirement of 50% indoor and 50% outdoor activities.
Venue Selection and Coordination: Based on your location and preferences, the provider will identify and book a suitable venue that is at least 100KM from your registered premises, qualifying for the higher claim amount. They will ensure the venue meets all necessary standards, including adequate space for both indoor and outdoor activities, as well as facilities for meals and lodging if required.
Logistics and Transportation: The provider will arrange all transportation logistics, including travel to and from the venue. Whether your team needs chartered buses, car rentals, or other transportation options, the provider will coordinate these services and handle all related paperwork, including receipts and invoices necessary for claims.
Accommodation and Meals: If the team-building event spans multiple days, the provider will book accommodation that meets the needs of your team, ensuring comfort and convenience. They will also arrange meal plans, taking into account any dietary restrictions or preferences. The provider will manage these details without requiring you to keep track of receipts, as these can be claimed without documentation under the HRDF/HRD Corp guidelines.
Scheduling and Time Management: A detailed itinerary will be developed, ensuring that the training program runs smoothly from start to finish. The provider will schedule activities, breaks, meals, and any additional sessions, maintaining a structured yet flexible agenda that allows for maximum participation and engagement.
Compliance and Documentation: The training provider will ensure that all aspects of the team-building event comply with HRDF/HRD Corp regulations. They will handle all necessary documentation, including the submission of claims for transportation, meals, accommodation, and trainer fees. The provider will also manage any post-training paperwork, ensuring that claims are processed efficiently and that no upfront payments are required from your end.
On-Site Coordination and Support: During the event, the training provider will have staff on-site to coordinate activities, troubleshoot any issues, and provide support to participants. This hands-on approach ensures that the event runs smoothly and that any unexpected challenges are promptly addressed.

Pick a Topics for your Team Building Title
Team building activities are efficacious in cultivating cooperation, communication, and leadership since they establish a milieu where participants are compelled to depend on one another, communicate proficiently, and frequently assume leadership positions to accomplish shared objectives. The following activities contribute to the development of these essential skills:
1. Teamwork
Shared Goals and Objectives: Team-building exercises are specifically created to revolve around mutual objectives that necessitate collaborative endeavor. Participants are required to collaborate and provide mutual support in order to complete tasks, hence emphasizing the significance of working together.
Interdependence: Activities frequently necessitate persons to rely on each other’s skills and abilities. The interdependence between team members emphasizes the significance of each individual and instructs participants on how to effectively merge their abilities in order to surmount obstacles.
Task Allocation: Several team-building activities entail allocating distinct responsibilities to participants, motivating them to operate within their designated roles while providing assistance to others. This facilitates employees’ comprehension of their individual contributions and their integration within the wider team dynamic.
2. Interpersonal exchange of information and ideas
Clear instructions and feedback are crucial for successfully completing team-building projects, as they rely heavily on concise and efficient communication. Participants are required to both supply and receive instructions, exchange ideas, and offer comments, all of which contribute to the improvement of their communication skills.
Active listening is essential in team-building scenarios as it allows for a better understanding of others’ viewpoints. Activities frequently promote active listening, a practice that requires participants to attentively analyze information and respond correctly. This enhances their capacity to communicate proficiently in a professional setting.
Non-verbal Communication: Certain activities prioritize non-verbal communication, requiring team members to read body language, gestures, and facial expressions. This boosts their capacity to perceive non-verbal signs in the workplace, hence enhancing overall communication.
3. Leadership Emergent
Leadership naturally arises in numerous team-building activities. Participants instinctively assume leadership positions when the circumstances require guidance, decision-making, or inspiration. This enables individuals to gain firsthand experience in leadership and cultivate their self-assurance in effectively guiding others.
Leadership duties frequently necessitate rapid cognitive processing and decision-making. Individuals assuming leadership positions must engage in making strategic choices for the team, facilitating the growth of their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, which are crucial for proficient leadership.
Leadership in team-building involves more than just giving directions to the team. It also entails the important task of supporting and motivating others. Activities impart the skills necessary for leaders to motivate their teammates, enhance team spirit, and propel the team towards achievement, all of which are essential attributes of good leaders.
Delegation and trust are essential qualities for effective leaders. They must be able to assign duties to their team members and have confidence in their ability to successfully carry them out. Team-building exercises frequently replicate situations in which leaders delegate responsibilities and rely on their team to carry them out, promoting leadership skills that prioritize trust and empowerment.
4. Problem-Solving
Several team-building activities are specifically created to replicate difficult scenarios that necessitate teamwork, communication, and leadership to successfully overcome. These controlled environments provide participants with the opportunity to practice and improve these abilities without the high risks associated with real job situations.
Limitations on available time: Frequently, team-building activities have a specified time limit, necessitating participants to think and respond rapidly. This sense of urgency facilitates the cultivation of rapid, efficient communication and decision-making abilities, which are crucial in demanding professional settings.
5. Overcoming Obstacles
Informal Setting: Team-building activities frequently occur in casual or unconventional environments, facilitating the dismantling of hierarchical or departmental obstacles. This promotes transparent communication and the sharing of ideas, developing a more cooperative and all-encompassing team atmosphere.
Trust Building: Trust is fundamental to the success of teamwork, communication, and leadership. Team-building activities foster trust among participants, leading to enhanced working relationships.
